Start With the Problem

Every system that worked started with a clear reading of the problem, not the technology.

Architecture Matters More as Systems Grow

Small systems forgive weak structure. Large, long-lived ones do not.

People Are Part of Every System

Roles, approvals and the people operating a system shape it as much as the code does.

Complexity Should Be Managed

Complexity is inevitable; leaving it unmanaged is a choice.

Build for Change

Requirements move. Configurable rules beat hard-coded assumptions.

Keep Learning

New tools — most recently AI-assisted engineering — reward people who already understand the fundamentals.

Where this is heading

The direction of travel is consistent: from code to systems, and from systems to impact. The current focus is combining solution architecture and development-sector experience with AI-assisted engineering — building software faster without giving up the discipline that makes it last.
